An uplifting lesson with Jennifer
For beginners, she will get you started with producing a good tone, proper technique, right and left hand coordination and an introduction to the fundamentals of your instrument. Soon you will learn songs you can sing along with and play with other musicians.
Intermediate students may incorporate skills such as reading musical notation in different styles of music such as hymns, fiddle tunes, classical music and seasonal favorites.
Students wanting to learn more can be introduced to music theory which will open the door to a new understanding of music (applied to any instrument).
Her background and outlook on teaching
From an early age, Jennifer first learned music by ear on several instruments. While in elementary school she studied piano through private lessons in her hometown of Hillsville, Virginia. She later went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina.
Jennifer also has an education and experience as a professional school counselor which adds a richness to her understanding of young students. She earned a Masters in Education from Middle Tennessee State University and worked as elementary school counselor in Nashville for eight years.
She enjoys sharing her love of music and helping others learn new skills. Whatever age, students will experience a new enthusiasm for music with each lesson.
